이 유전자에 의해 인코딩되는 단백질은 인터루킨 7(IL7)의 수용체입니다. 이 수용체의 기능은 인터루킨 2, 4, 7, 9, 15를 포함한 다양한 사이토카인의 수용체에 의해 공유되는 공통 감마 사슬인 인터루킨 2 수용체 감마 사슬(IL2RG)을 필요로 합니다. 이 단백질은 림프구 발달 중 V(D)J 재조합에서 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌습니다. 이 유전자의 결함은 중증 복합 면역결핍증(SCID)과 관련이 있을 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이체가 발견되었습니다.
