케모카인은 약 8~14kD 크기의 작고 대부분 염기성인 구조적으로 관련된 분자 그룹으로, 7-막관통 G 단백질 결합 수용체의 하위 집합과의 상호작용을 통해 다양한 유형의 백혈구 세포 이동을 조절합니다. 케모카인은 또한 면역계의 발달, 항상성 및 기능에 근본적인 역할을 하며, 중추신경계 세포뿐만 아니라 혈관신생 또는 혈관정지에 관여하는 내피세포에도 영향을 미칩니다. 케모카인은 CXC와 CC의 두 가지 주요 하위 패밀리로 나뉩니다. 이 항균 유전자는 케모카인 슈퍼패밀리의 CXC 구성원입니다. 이 유전자가 인코딩하는 단백질은 활성화된 T-세포에서 화학주성 반응을 유도하며, CXC 수용체-3의 주요 리간드입니다. 이 단백질을 인코딩하는 유전자는 4개의 엑손과 최소 3개의 폴리아데닐화 신호를 포함하며, 이는 세포 특이적 발현 조절을 반영할 수 있습니다.
