이 유전자는 인터페론에 의해 유도되는 많은 유전자 중 하나로 처음 확인되었습니다. 인코딩된 단백질은 세포자멸사 조절에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있습니다. 포유류 스플라이스 공여체 합의 서열과 유사한 12개 뉴클레오타이드 반복 요소 26개 반복으로 구성된 미니위성(minisatellite)은 두 번째 엑손의 끝 근처에서 시작됩니다. 두 개의 하류 반복 단위를 스플라이스 공여체 부위로 사용하여 다른 이소형을 인코딩하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이체가 설명되었습니다.
