이 항균 유전자는 17번 염색체 q 팔에 클러스터된 여러 케모카인 유전자 중 하나입니다. 케모카인은 면역 조절 및 염증 과정에 관여하는 분비 단백질의 슈퍼패밀리를 형성합니다. 이 슈퍼패밀리는 성숙 펩타이드의 N-말단 시스테인 잔기 배열에 따라 네 가지 서브패밀리로 나뉩니다. 이 케모카인은 두 개의 인접한 시스테인 잔기를 특징으로 하는 CC 서브패밀리의 구성원입니다. 이 사이토카인은 단핵구, 림프구, 호염기구 및 호산구에 대한 화학주성 활성을 나타냅니다. 염증 부위로 백혈구를 모집함으로써 이 사이토카인은 종양 관련 백혈구 침윤 및 HIV 감염에 대한 항바이러스 상태에 기여할 수 있습니다.
