이 유전자에 의해 인코딩되는 단백질은 IL17과 서열 유사성을 공유하는 사이토카인입니다. 이 사이토카인으로 내피 세포를 처리하면 IL6, IL8 및 CSF2/GM-CSF를 포함한 다른 사이토카인의 생성이 자극되는 것으로 나타났습니다. 이 사이토카인에 의해 유도되는 IL8의 발현 증가는 NF-kappa B 의존적인 것으로 밝혀졌습니다.
