리실 하이드록실라제는 소포체 시스테르나에 국한된 막 결합 동종이량체 단백질입니다. 이 효소(보조인자 철 및 아스코르브산)는 콜라겐 유사 펩타이드의 리실 잔기 수산화를 촉매합니다. 결과적으로 생성된 하이드록시리실 그룹은 콜라겐에서 탄수화물의 부착 부위이며, 따라서 분자간 교차결합의 안정성에 중요합니다. 일부 엘러스-단로스 증후군 6형 환자는 리실 하이드록실라제 활성 결핍을 보입니다. 이 유전자에서는 다른 이소형을 인코딩하는 두 가지 전사 변이체가 발견되었습니다.
