유전자 개요
이 효소는 단백질 타이로신 키나아제(protein tyrosine kinase) 계열에 속하며, T세포 발달과 림프구(lymphocyte) 활성화에 관여한다. T세포 항원 수용체(TCR) 자극 시 타이로신 잔기에서 인산화되는 이 효소는 Src 계열 키나아제인 Lck 및 Fyn과 함께 TCR 매개 신호 전달의 초기 단계에서 기능한다. 또한 이 효소는 흉선세포(thymocyte) 발달에 필수적이다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 CD8 양성 T세포의 선택적 결핍을 특징으로 하는 중증 복합 면역결핍증인 선택적 T세포 결함(selective T-cell defect)을 유발한다. 이 유전자에 대해 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화하는 두 개의 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
