유전자 개요
이 유전자는 세포자멸사(apoptosis) 저해제(inhibitor) 단백질 계열(IAP) 단백질의 저해 효과를 막는 단백질을 암호화한다. IAP 단백질은 세포자멸사 중에 활성화되는 카스파제(caspase)를 결합하여 저해한다. 암호화된 단백질과 같이 IAP의 활성을 방해하는 단백질의 비율은 세포자멸사 신호 전달 경로의 진행에 영향을 미친다. 이 유전자는 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
