유전자 개요
이 유전자는 단백질 유비퀴틴화(ubiquitination)에 중요한 역할을 하는 Nedd4 계열 E3 리가아제(ligase) 계열 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 네 개의 WW 도메인(domain)을 포함하며, Smad 단백질 및 종양 억제 인자(tumor suppressor) PTEN과의 상호작용을 통해 연골 형성(chondrogenesis) 및 종양(tumor) 신호 전달 경로 조절을 포함한 여러 과정에서 역할을 할 수 있다. 이 유전자에 대해 여러 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 대체 접합 전사체 변이체(alternatively spliced transcript variant)가 관찰되었으며, 이 유전자의 유사 위유전자(pseudogene)는 10번 염색체 장완에 위치한다.
