유전자 개요
WNT1 유전자는 분비형 신호 전달 단백질을 지정하는 구조적으로 관련된 WNT 유전자 계열의 구성원입니다. 이 단백질은 종양 발생과 배아 발생 중 세포 운명 및 패턴 형성에 관여하는 여러 발달 과정에 연루되어 왔습니다. 진화적으로 매우 보존적인 이 유전자는 쥐 Wnt1 단백질과 아미노산 수준에서 98% 동일한 것으로 알려진 단백질을 지정합니다. 쥐에서의 연구는 Wnt1 단백질이 중뇌 및 소뇌 유도에 기능함을 나타냅니다. 이 유전자는 소뇌 형성 부전이 주요 특징인 상염색체 열성 질환인 죠버트 증후군(Joubert syndrome)의 후보 유전자로 처음 고려되었습니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 12q13 영역에서 다른 계열 구성원인 WNT10B와 군집되어 있습니다.
