이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 접착성 당단백질(glycoprotein)로 기능합니다. 이 단백질의 차등 발현은 세포를 다양한 리간드를 통해 세포외 기질에 연결함으로써 세포 부착 또는 이동을 촉진할 수 있습니다. 이 단백질은 또한 막(membrane) 손상 효과를 저해하고 여러 세린 단백질분해효소(protease) 저해제(inhibitor)와 결합합니다. 이 단백질은 종양 발생에도 관여합니다.
