USP30 유전자는 유비퀴틴-특이적 단백질분해효소(ubiquitin-specific protease) 계열에 속하며, 미토콘드리아에서 작용하는 새로운 탈유비퀴틴화 효소(deubiquitinating (DUB) enzyme)이다. 이 효소는 유비퀴틴(ubiquitin)을 제거하는 기능을 한다.
