이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 일차 NK 세포에서 발견되는 KLRK1/NKG2D 수용체(receptor)의 여러 관련 리간드 중 하나입니다. 이 리간드가 수용체에 결합하면 JAK2, STAT5, ERK 경로를 포함한 여러 신호 전달 경로가 활성화됩니다. 지정된 단백질은 다양한 종양(tumor) 세포 표면에서 용해성으로 발현되어 치료 표적으로서 중요하게 작용할 가능성이 있습니다.
