유전자 개요
이 유전자는 두 개의 유비퀴틴 유사 도메인(ubiquitin-like domain)을 포함하는 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 다른 단백질을 26S 프로테아좀(proteasome) 분해 대상으로 지정하는 기능을 한다. 해당 단백질은 세포자멸사(apoptosis), 애그레조좀(aggresome) 형성, 유사분열 조절, 수지상 세포 성숙 등 다양한 세포 과정에서 기능하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 또한, 만성 신장 질환에서의 염증(inflammation) 촉진과 여러 암(cancer) 유형에서 이 유전자의 상향 조절이 관찰되었다.
