유전자 개요
TSC2는 종양(tumor) 억제 유전자로, 성장 억제 단백질 tuberin을 암호화한다. Tuberin은 hamartin과 상호작용하여 TSC 단백질 복합체를 형성하며, 이 복합체는 세포 성장을 조절하는 기능을 한다. 이 TSC 단백질 복합체는 anabolic 세포 성장의 주요 조절인자인 mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) 신호 전달을 음성적으로 조절한다. 이 유전자의 변이는 결절성 경화증(tuberous sclerosis)과 림프혈관근종종(lymphangioleiomyomatosis)과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
