유전자 개요
이 유전자는 골수 세포(myeloid cells)에서 발현되는 Ig 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)에 속하는 수용체(receptor)를 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 전염증성 케모카인(chemokines)과 사이토카인(cytokines)의 방출을 자극하고 세포 활성화 표지자(cell activation markers)의 표면 발현을 증가시킴으로써, 세균 및 진균 감염에 의해 유발되는 호중구(neutrophil)와 단핵구(monocyte) 매개 염증 반응을 증폭시킨다. 이 유전자에는 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoforms)을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체(spliced transcript variants)가 확인되었다.
