유전자 개요
대체 스플라이싱을 통해 이 유전자는 여러 종류의 LEM 도메인 함유 단백질 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화한다. LEM 도메인 단백질은 세포핵 안쪽 막 단백질 및 핵 내 단백질을 포함하며, 유전자 발현, 염색질(chromatin) 구성, 복제 및 세포 주기(cell cycle) 조절을 포함한 다양한 세포 기능에 관여한다. 암호화된 알파 이소형은 세포핵 전체에 넓게 퍼져 있으며 라민 결합 도메인을 포함하는 반면, 베타 및 감마 이소형은 핵 막에 위치하며 HDAC3 상호작용 도메인을 포함한다. 각각의 이소형은 다른 단백질을 안내하고 전사(transcription)를 조절할 때 서로 경쟁할 수 있다.
