이 유전자는 세포 사멸 수용체(death receptor) 결합 활성을 돕는다. 또한 세포 사멸 도메인 수용체(death domain receptors)를 통한 외인성 세포 사멸 신호 전달 경로와 단백질의 세포막(plasma membrane)으로의 이동을 음성적으로 조절하는 데 관여한다. 이 유전자는 골지체 막(Golgi membrane), 엔도솜 막(endosome membrane), 리소좀 막(lysosomal membrane)에 위치한다.
