TIGIT는 PVR(폴리오바이러스 수용체, poliovirus receptor) 계열에 속하는 면역글로불린(immunoglobulin) 단백질을 암호화하며, 그 산물은 여포성 B 보조 T 세포(follicular B helper T cell, TFH)를 비롯한 여러 부류의 T 세포에서 발현된다. 해당 단백질은 PVR에 높은 친화도로 결합하는 것으로 확인되었으며, 이 결합은 TFH와 수지상세포(dendritic cell) 간 상호작용을 매개하여 T 세포 의존적 B 세포 반응을 조절하는 데 기여하는 것으로 여겨진다.
