유전자 개요

TGFA는 상피세포성장인자수용체(EGFR)의 리간드로 작용하는 성장인자를 암호화하며, 세포 증식·분화·발생을 조절하는 신호전달 경로를 활성화한다. 이 단백질은 막결합형(transmembrane-bound) 리간드 또는 가용성(soluble) 리간드의 형태로 기능할 수 있다. TGFA는 여러 종류의 암과 연관되어 있으며 일부 구순구개열(cleft lip/palate) 사례에도 관여하는 것으로 보고되었고, 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)를 만드는 전사변이체들이 확인되었다.
