유전자 개요
이 유전자는 Kunitz-형 세린 단백질 분해 효소 저해제(serine proteinase inhibitor) 계열의 단백질을 암호화한다. 해당 단백질은 제7a 인자/조직 인자(factor VIIa/tissue factor), 제10a 인자(factor Xa), 플라스민(plasmin), 트립신(trypsin), 키모트립신(chymotrypsin), 혈장 칼리크레인(plasma kallikrein)을 포함한 다양한 세린 단백질 분해 효소를 저해할 수 있다. 본 유전자는 여러 종류의 암에서 종양 억제 유전자(tumor suppressor gene)로 확인되었다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 인해 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)가 생성된다.
