트랜스알돌레이스 1 (Transaldolase 1)은 비산화성 오탄당 인산 경로의 주요 효소로, 핵산 합성에 필요한 리보스-5-인산과 지질 생합성에 필요한 NADPH를 제공한다. 이 경로는 또한 글루타치온을 환원 상태로 유지하여 산화 라디칼로부터 설프히드릴기(-SH기)와 세포 완전성을 보호할 수 있다. 트랜스알돌레이스 1의 기능 유전자는 11번 염색체에 위치하며, 1번 염색체에서는 유사 유전자가 확인되었으나 지도상의 위치는 상충된다. 이 유전자의 두 번째와 세 번째 엑손은 레트로트랜스포존 요소의 삽입으로 발달하였다. 이 유전자는 다발성 경화증과 관련이 있는 것으로 여겨진다.
