유전자 개요
이 유전자는 다양한 조직에서 발현되는 분비성, 이량체 당단백질(glycoprotein)을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 신장 및 장의 칼슘과 인산염 수송, 세포 대사, 또는 세포 칼슘/인산염 항상성 조절에 역할을 할 수 있다. 또한, 이 유전자는 단백질 키나아제 C(protein kinase C)에 의해 세린 잔기에서만 인산화되는 11개의 보존된 시스테인 잔기를 포함하며, CAG 삼핵산 반복 서열이 풍부한 5’ UTR을 가지고 있다. 인간 STC1의 과발현은 마우스에서 높은 혈청 인산염 수치, 왜소증, 대사율 증가를 유발한다. 이 유전자는 간세포암, 난소암, 유방암에서 발현이 변화한다.
