STAT4 유전자는 전사 인자(transcription factor)인 STAT 계열 단백질을 지정한다. 이 단백질은 림프구에서 IL12 반응 매개 및 T 보조 세포 분화 조절에 필수적이다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 전신 홍반성 루푸스 및 류머티스 관절염과 관련될 수 있다.
