유전자 개요
이 단백질은 다양한 부위에서 호르몬 및 기타 분비 단백질의 방출을 억제하는 소마토스타틴이 작용하는 수용체이다. 소마토스타틴의 생물학적 효과는 조직 특이적으로 발현되는 G 단백질-연결 수용체(G protein-coupled receptor) 계열을 통해 매개된다. SSTR2는 7개의 막 관통 구간을 가진 수용체 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)의 구성원으로, 대뇌와 신장에서 가장 높은 수준으로 발현된다.
