유전자 개요
SPARC 유전자는 시스테인 함량이 높고 산성을 띠는 기질 결합 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 뼈의 콜라젠 석회화에 필요하며, 세포 외 기질 합성 및 세포 형태 변화 촉진에도 관여한다. 유전자 산물은 종양 억제와 관련이 있지만, 세포 형태 변화를 통해 종양 세포 침윤을 촉진할 수 있어 전이와도 연관성이 보고되었다. 이 유전자는 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)를 암호화하는 세 가지 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
