이 유전자는 염색질 결합 활성(chromatin binding activity)을 갖도록 예측된다. 유사분열 염색체 응축(mitotic chromosome condensation) 및 염색체 응축의 양성 조절(positive regulation of chromosome condensation)에 관여한다. 응축된 염색질, 세포질(cytoplasm), 핵 내강(nuclear lumen)에 위치한다. 이 유전자는 응축복합체(condensin complex)의 일부이며, 결장 선암(colon adenocarcinoma)에 연루되어 있다. 또한 대장암(colorectal cancer)의 바이오마커이다.
