간, 신장, 장 및 기타 장기에서 다중 특이적 유기 양이온 수송체(transporter)는 다양한 약물과 환경 독소뿐만 아니라 많은 내인성 소분자 유기 양이온의 제거에 중요합니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 6의 클러스터에 위치한 세 개의 유사한 양이온 수송체 유전자 중 하나입니다. 암호화된 단백질은 12개의 추정되는 막 관통 도메인(transmembrane domain)을 포함하며, 혈장 막(membrane) 단백질입니다.
