SIRP 계열 단백질은 수용체-유형 막 투과성 당단백질로, 수용체 티로신 키나아제(receptor tyrosine kinase)-결합 신호 전달 과정의 음성 조절에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 이 단백질은 티로신 키나아제(tyrosine kinase)에 의해 인산화될 수 있습니다. 이 단백질의 인산화 티로신 잔기는 SH2 도메인 함유 티로신 포스파타아제(tyrosine phosphatase)를 모집하며, 포스파타아제의 기질 역할을 합니다. 해당 단백질은 다양한 성장인자 수용체(growth factor receptor)가 매개하는 신호 전달에 참여하는 것으로 밝혀졌습니다.
