유전자 개요
이 유전자는 시알산 결합 면역글로불린 유사 렉틴 (Siglec) 계열 단백질을 암호화한다. 이들 세포 표면 렉틴은 면역글로불린 (Ig) 유사 도메인의 구조적 특징과 첫 Ig V 세트 도메인의 시알산 인식 부위로 특징지어진다. 암호화된 단백질은 Siglec의 CD33 관련 부분집합의 일원으로, 단핵구, 대식세포, 호중구를 포함한 여러 세포 유형의 활성을 억제한다. 그룹 B 연쇄상구균 (GBS)이 암호화된 단백질에 결합하는 것은 GBS 면역 회피에 역할을 한다.
