유전자 개요

SERPINE2는 세린 단백질분해효소(serine protease)를 억제하는 단백질군인 세르핀(serpin) 패밀리의 한 구성원을 암호화하며, 트롬빈(thrombin), 유로키나제(urokinase), 플라스민(plasmin), 트립신(trypsin) 등의 프로테아제를 억제할 수 있다. 또한 만성 폐쇄성 폐질환(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)과 폐기종(emphysema)의 감수성 유전자로 알려져 있다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)을 통해 여러 전사체 변이가 생성된다.
