유전자 개요

이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 세린 단백질 분해효소(protease) 억제 세르핀(serpin) 계열에 속하며, 다수의 종양(tumor) 세포에서 높이 발현된다. 이 단백질은 종양 세포를 사멸시키는 효소(enzyme)인 그란자임 M을 비활성화할 수 있다. 또한 세르핀 B3(serpin B3)와 함께 작은 단편으로 절단되어 응집하면서 만성 염증(inflammation)을 유발하고, 건선(psoriasis)에서 자가항원(autoantigen)을 형성할 수 있다.
