유전자 개요
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 세린 단백질 분해효소(serine protease)를 억제하는 세르핀(serpin) 단백질 가족의 일원이며, 14번 염색체 q팔의 세르핀 유전자 군 중 하나이다. 이 단백질의 다형현상은 조직 특이적으로 나타나 단백질 분해효소(protease) 표적화에 영향을 주며, 서열 변이는 알츠하이머병(Alzheimer disease)과 연관되고 결핍은 간 질환과 관련이 있다. 또한 파킨슨병(Parkinson disease)과 만성 폐쇄성 폐질환(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) 환자에서 돌연변이가 확인되었다.
