유전자 개요
리보솜은 단백질 합성을 촉매하는 소기관으로, 작은 40S 소단위체와 큰 60S 소단위체로 구성된다. 이 소단위체들은 총 4종의 RNA와 약 80개의 구조적으로 구별되는 단백질로 이루어져 있다. 이 유전자는 40S 소단위체의 구성 성분인 리보솜 단백질을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 리보솜 단백질 S25E 계열에 속하며, 세포질(cytoplasm)에 위치한다. 리보솜 단백질을 암호화하는 유전자의 일반적인 특성과 같이, 이 유전자의 여러 개의 전사 후 유사체(processed pseudogene)가 게놈에 흩어져 존재한다.
