유전자 개요
RPN1 유전자는 거친 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)에만 존재하는 제1형 막 단백질(integral membrane protein)을 암호화한다. 이 단백질은 새로 생성되는 폴리펩타이드(polypeptide) 사슬 내 Asn-X-Ser/Thr 서열 모티프의 아스파라긴 잔기(asparagine residues)에 고만노스 올리고당(high mannose oligosaccharides)을 연결하는 N-올리고당화 전달 효소(N-oligosaccharyl transferase) 복합체의 일부이다. 이 단백질은 26S 프로테아좀(proteasome)의 조절 소단위(regulatory subunit)를 형성하며, 유비퀴틴(ubiquitin)-유사 도메인이 프로테아좀에 결합하는 것을 매개할 수 있다.
