유전자 개요
리보솜은 단백질 합성을 촉매하는 소기관으로, 작은 40S 소단위체와 큰 60S 소단위체로 구성됩니다. 이 소단위체들은 4종의 RNA와 약 80개의 구조적으로 구별되는 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다. 이 유전자는 60S 소단위체의 구성 성분인 리보솜 단백질을 지정합니다. 대장균 L10 리보솜 단백질의 기능적 동등체인 이 단백질은 리보솜 단백질 중 L10P 계열에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 중성의 인단백질(phosphoprotein)이며, C-말단은 산성 리보솜 인단백질 P1 및 P2의 C-말단과 거의 동일합니다. P0 단백질은 P1 및 P2와 상호작용하여 P1과 P2 이량체(dimer) 및 P0 단위체(monomer)로 구성된 오량체 복합체(pentameric complex)를 형성할 수 있습니다. 이 단백질은 세포질(cytoplasm)에 위치합니다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)으로 유래된 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 존재하며, 동일한 단백질을 지정합니다. 리보솜 단백질을 지정하는 유전자의 일반적인 특징처럼, 이 유전자의 여러 처리된 유사유전자(processed pseudogene)가 게놈 전반에 흩어져 있습니다.
