유전자 개요
리보솜은 단백질 합성을 촉매하는 세포 소기관으로, 작은 40S 소단위체와 큰 60S 소단위체로 구성됩니다. 이 소단위체들은 네 종의 RNA와 약 80개의 구조적으로 구별되는 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다. 이 유전자는 리보솜 단백질 L15E 계열의 구성원이자 60S 소단위체의 일부를 암호화합니다. 또한 이 유전자는 효모 리보솜 단백질 YL10 유전자와 서열 유사성을 공유합니다. 이 유전자의 발현 증가는 식도 종양 및 위암 조직에서 관찰되었으며, 한 Diamond-Blackfan 빈혈(DBA) 환자에게서 이 유전자의 삭제가 관찰되었습니다. 리보솜 단백질을 암호화하는 유전자의 일반적인 특징처럼, 이 유전자에는 게놈 전반에 걸쳐 분포하는 다수의 처리된 유사 유전자들이 존재합니다.
