이 유전자는 소형 GTPase(GTPase) 단백질 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)의 구성원을 암호화한다. 암호화된 단백질은 GTP에만 결합하며 GTPase 활성은 없는데, 이는 세포 골격 조직의 음성 조절자로 작용하여 부착 손실을 초래하는 것으로 보인다. 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 여러 대체 스플라이싱 변이체가 확인되었다.
