유전자 개요
이 유전자는 regenerating islet-derived genes (REG)3 단백질 계열의 구성원을 암호화한다. 이 단백질들은 탄수화물 인식 도메인과 N-말단 시그널 펩타이드(signal peptide)를 가진 분비형 C형 렉틴(lectin)이다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 그람 양성균에 대한 활성을 지닌 항균 렉틴이다. 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)은 다수의 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이체를 생성한다.
