유전자 개요
이 유전자는 글리신이 풍부한 RNA-결합 단백질 계열의 구성원으로, RNA 인식 모티프(RNA recognition motif, RRM) 도메인을 하나 갖는 단백질을 암호화한다. RBM3의 발현은 냉충격과 저산소 환경에 의해 유도된다. 염색체 1번에는 이 유전자의 위유전자(pseudogene)가 존재한다. 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화할 것으로 예측되는 여러 대체 접합 전사체 변이체들이 특성화되었으나, 이들 중 일부 변이체는 무의미 돌연변이 매개 붕괴(nonsense-mediated decay, NMD) 기준에 부합한다.
