이 단백질은 소형 GTPase(GTPase) 슈퍼패밀리(superfamily)에 속하며, Ras 계열 단백질 중 하나이다. GTP 결합 단백질은 특정 세포 표면 수용체의 점유로 시작되는 막간 신호 전달을 매개한다. 이 유전자는 다른 Ras 단백질과 약 50%의 유사성을 공유하는 저분자량 Ras 유사 GTP 결합 단백질을 지정한다.
