유전자 개요

PVRL4는 넥틴 계열(nectin family)에 속하는 단백질을 암호화하며, 두 개의 면역글로불린 유사(immunoglobulin-like) C2형 도메인과 하나의 V형 도메인을 갖는 단일통과 I형 막단백질로서 트랜스 동종친화성 및 이종친화성 상호작용을 통해 세포 접착에 관여한다. 가용성 형태는 세포 표면에서 금속단백질분해효소(metalloproteinase) ADAM17/TACE에 의한 단백질분해 절단으로 생성되며, 분비형은 유방 종양 세포주와 유방 종양 환자 모두에서 확인된다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 상염색체 열성 질환인 외배엽 이형성-합지증 증후군(ectodermal dysplasia-syndactyly syndrome) 1형의 원인이며, 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이가 발견되었으나 전장 여부는 아직 확인되지 않았다.
