이 유전자는 핵 내 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱(splicing) 및 전사 조절 등 다양한 핵 과정을 수행하는 핵산 결합 단백질을 지정합니다. 이 단백질은 퓨즈결합단백질(FUSE-binding protein) 및 마이엘로사이토마토시스 온코진(MYC) 프로모터(promoter)의 아주 먼 상류 DNA 요소(far upstream DNA element, FUSE)와 복합체를 형성합니다. 이 복합체는 핵심-TFIIH 기저 전사 인자(core-TFIIH basal transcription factor)를 통해 MYC 전사를 억제합니다. 또한, 이 유전자는 여러 아이소폼(isoform)을 지정하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이체(alternatively spliced transcript variants)가 관찰되었습니다.
