유전자 개요
이 유전자에 의해 암호화되는 단백질은 단백질 티로신 포스파타제(protein tyrosine phosphatase, PTP) 계열에 속합니다. PTP 계열의 구성원은 촉매 활성에 필수적인 매우 보존된 촉매 모티프를 공유합니다. PTP는 세포 성장, 분화, 유사분열 주기, 종양 발생 형질전환을 포함한 다양한 세포 과정을 조절하는 신호 전달 분자로 알려져 있습니다. 표피 성장 인자 수용체(epidermal growth factor receptor)와 적응자 단백질 Shc가 이 PTP의 기질로 보고되었으며, 이는 성장인자 매개 세포 신호 전달에서의 역할을 시사합니다. 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 여러 개의 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었습니다. 각각 염색체 1번과 13번에 위치하는 매우 유사하지만 명확하게 처리된 두 개의 위유전자(pseudogene)가 보고된되었습니다.
