유전자 개요
단백질 티로신 인산 가수 분해 효소(protein tyrosine phosphatase, PTP) 계통의 최초 구성원은 효소 활성과 아미노산 서열을 바탕으로 분리·동정된, 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질이다. PTP는 티로신 잔기의 인산 모노에스터(phosphate monoester) 가수분해를 촉매하며, 세포 성장·분화·유사분열 주기·발암성 전환을 비롯한 세포 과정을 조절하는 신호 분자이다. 이 PTP는 인슐린 수용체(insulin receptor) 키나아제(kinase)의 인산화된 티로신 잔기를 탈인산화하여 인슐린 신호전달에 부정적 조절 인자로 작용하고, 표피 성장 인자(epidermal growth factor, EGF) 수용체(receptor) 키나아제(kinase)와 JAK2, TYK2 키나아제를 탈인산화함으로써 세포 성장 조절과 인터페론(interferon) 자극에 대한 세포 반응에 관여하며, 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoform)을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
