유전자 개요
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 세포질 비수용체 단백질 키나아제(cytoplasmic nonreceptor protein kinase)로, 상피 조직에서 세포 내 신호 전달자(intracellular signal transducer)로 기능할 수 있다. 이 유전자의 과발현은 유선 상피 세포를 표피 성장 인자(epidermal growth factor)에 대한 민감성을 갖게 하고 부분적으로 형질 전환된 표현형을 유도한다. 일부 유방 종양에서는 이 유전자의 발현이 낮은 수준으로 검출되었으나 정상 유방 조직에서는 그렇지 않다. 암호화된 단백질은 자가인산화(autophosphorylation)를 겪는 것으로 나타났으며, 대체 스플라이싱(alternative splicing)은 여러 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)를 생성한다.
