유전자 개요
이 유전자가 지정하는 단백질은 막 연관 프로스타글란딘 E 합성효소(membrane-associated prostaglandin E synthase)로, 프로스타글란딘 H2를 프로스타글란딘 E2로 전환시키는 반응을 촉매한다. 또한 이 단백질은 감마 인터페론 활성화 전사 요소(gamma-interferon-activated transcription element, GATE)에 의해 조절되는 전사(transcription)를 활성화하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 유전자에 대해 여러 전사 변이체(transcript variant)가 발견되었다.
