유전자 개요
이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 티올 특이적 항산화 단백질(thiol-specific antioxidant protein) 군에 속한다. 이 단백질은 서로 다른 두 개의 활성 부위(active site)를 지닌 이기능성 효소(bifunctional enzyme)로, 세포 산화환원 조절(redox regulation)에 참여하여 과산화수소(H2O2)와 짧은 사슬의 유기·지방산·인지질 하이드로퍼옥사이드(hydroperoxide)를 감소시킨다. 또한 인지질 회전(phospholipid turnover) 조절과 산화적 손상(oxidative injury) 방어에도 역할을 할 수 있다.
