이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 펩티딜-프롤릴 시스-트랜스 이성질체효소(peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase, PPIase) 계열에 속한다. PPIase는 올리고펩타이드(oligopeptide)에서 프롤린 이미드 펩타이드 결합의 시스-트랜스 이성질화(cis-trans isomerization)를 촉매하고 단백질 접힘(protein folding)을 촉진한다. 이 단백질은 PPIase 활성을 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 다른 계열 구성원들과 유사하게 면역억제제인 사이클로스포린 A(cyclosporin A)에 결합할 수 있다.
