유전자 개요

POT1 유전자는 텔로머(telomere) 유지에 관여하는 핵 단백질을 암호화하며 텔로머빈(telombin) 계열의 구성원이다. 이 단백질은 텔로머의 TTAGGG 반복 서열에 결합하는 다중 단백질 복합체의 일부로서, 텔로머 길이를 조절하고 염색체 말단을 비정상적인 재조합(recombination), 파국적 염색체 불안정성, 비정상 염색체 분리로부터 보호하는 역할을 한다. 이 유전자의 전사적 발현 증가는 위암 발생 및 진행과 관련이 있다.
